Our Canada: Vancouver, B.C.

Vancouver has lots to brag about wherever you look!

The food scene:
Almost any time of the day or night, seven days a week, there is a long list of diverse, world-class restaurants at the disposal of Vancouverites.

The diverse culture: Vancouver's cultural richness is a true reflection of our nation's melting pot.

The scenery: Though Vancouver's real estate is one of the highest-valued in the world, Vancouver has proudly preserved Stanley Park, the UBC Endowment Lands and other incredible green spaces, giving residents and visitors serene retreats within the city.

You can't beat the sight of the coastal mountains reaching straight out of the Pacific Ocean, either!

Visitors should spend their time in Stanley Park, taking a stroll down Robson Street, visiting the beaches in the summer, and shopping in Yaletown and Gastown. I would also suggest the Granville Street entertainment district in the evening.

Foodie delights and highlights

Wildebeest: Amazing cocktails, wonderful B.C. wine and craft beers, and a huge menu of spectacular gastro pub fare make this my favourite restaurant in Vancouver. Be sure to try the "Foie Gras Torchon" and "Whole Roasted Duck."

Fable: My favourite Kitsilano restaurant, Fable (farm to table) never disappoints. Its menu is seasonal, west coast and innovative. Favourites are the "Beet Tartare" and whatever version of "Sous-vide Salmon" chef Trevor Bird has on offer. Sample the amazing Caesar cocktail as well!

España: A taste of Spain in the West End. This restaurant is a wonderful date-night spot to share authentic and progressive tapas. Beautifully prepared dishes, excellent cocktails and a great Spanish wine list (do the sherry flights!) are what bring me back here every time. Favourites are the daily paella, the octopus, and authentic Iberico ham preparations and cheese selections.
