What's in a name? Everything from family history to cultural heritage and pop culture, according to BabyCentre Canada website, which just released the most popular baby names for 2015.

Topping the list: Emma for girls and Liam for boys, choices that have been consistent winners for a few years. But new additions to the name game include Nova and Charlotte—the latter likely due to the popularity of British royals, Prince William and Kate Middleton. 

Another trend to watch: unusual spellings. The boy's name Jackson, for example, is seen spelled as Jaxon, Jaxxon and even Jaxyn.
