'A Daughter's Fortune' is truly a classic story and resonates with me.
I, too, have found myself caring for my ageless 86-year-old mother who has moved in to a retirement home close to me since my father's passing one year ago. There is not a visit that goes by that I don't laugh out loud and walk away learning something new from her. Imagine my delight never to exchange conversations about health and misery but to have a true sounding board and confidante who loves me unconditionally.
I can't part with her some days, as I am so bonded with her but she prepares me for the inevitable in her matter-of-fact tone and can ease my concerns for the future. A part of me will slip away when she is gone.
