As someone who considers Cape Breton my home, I understand Austen Gilliland's "My Canada" (October) like nothing I have read here before. I have lived all my life in Ontario and travelled to the beautiful province of Nova Scotia every summer up until a few years ago, when economics made it impossible. Oh, how I miss it.

And October with the Celtic Colours International Festival just makes it all the harder for me to be away from Cape Breton.

Someday, somehow, I will live there.

Thank you for a wonderful essay.
