Jennifer Power Scott's nursing memoir ("Motherlode: The Next Breast Thing," February) brought tears to my eyes. We read very little on the wonders of birthing and nursing. I am always discarding stories with little or no good advice that seem to scare new mothers into thinking that they cannot do what their bodies are made to do. We hear stories filled with pain and guilt, of supplementing, poor latching and breasts that are very painful.

But then there are many wonderful stories like yours out there; stories that let us know the challenges that eventually lead us to success. These are the stories that we need to be passing along. Congrats, Jennifer, on your "breast retirement"; they served your children and fed your soul. What a wonderful way to mother!
