I have been a subscriber for quite a number of years and have done numerous crafts that I have found in your magazine. I had the ladies from my Square Dance Group over one afternoon and we created beaded wine glass charms together (from the February 2003 issue). Everyone enjoyed making them and took their creations home along with happy faces and are still using them to this day!
I must also tell you that I have just finished crocheting my fifth Fresh Stripes Afghan from the September 2008 issue in lovely soft blues, greens and pinks. I have had so much fun doing them during the long dark winter evenings while I am watching television. I get excited to finish off one color and pick up the next to see the wonderful results.
I made my first afghan with left over wool and it turned out so well that I had to make another one. They are so warm and cozy to cuddle up into on those cold wintery evenings.
My partner just loves his.
Then I had to make my Grandson Scott one for Christmas. Scott has Cerebral Palsy and is in a wheel chair so I made the baby sized one as a lap quilt for him, and because he lives in a group home I embroidered his name on it. He was thrilled with his afghan and it keeps his legs and feet warm and cozy. Everyone in his group home is kind of envious. Perhaps as time goes on I will make a few more of the smaller ones for others who are confined to wheelchairs as well.
I must say I have had a very creative winter.
Thanks you to Canadian Living Magazine for your wonderful fun projects.
Sincerely,
Dorothy, Victoria, B.C.
