Register them for Apple Camp, a series of three-day workshops (1 ½ hours each day) where kids ages 8 to 12 learn to make movies or create interactive books complete with their own illustrations and sound effects. The camps take place at Apple stores across Canada between July 4–August 1. Free bowling Register your child for Kids Bowl Free and they’ll receive two free games a day, all summer long, courtesy of the participating bowling centers. Up to six children can be registered per account. (You can also add a family pass from $25 (US) which allows four adult family members to bowl two games per day along with the registered child/children.) Use the Canadian search feature on the site to find a participating alley near you. Free golf Kids golf free during this year’s Take A Kid To The Course week (July 7–13). More than 675 courses across Canada will offer free golf to children under 16 when they are accompanied by a paying adult. Many courses will also be offering free junior clinics, free junior club rentals and parent/child tournaments. Free swimming Take a plunge for free at a local pool starting in July courtesy of Tim Hortons Free Summer Swim which is taking place in participating communities. Free reading club The TD Summer Reading Club is back. Children under 5 receive a pre-reader activity book to do with a parent or caregiver. Kids ages 6 and up receive a magazine with activities, short articles and fun facts. All kids who join will also be given a notebook to record their summer reading and to include the special stickers they earn for every book they read—there are 12 to collect. Free Slurpee Celebrate 7-Eleven Day on July 11 with a free 12-ounce Slurpee. Participating stores across Canada will serve 1,500 drinks between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. while supplies last.
