Winnipeg emerges from a long, cold winter to offer a broad spectrum of outdoor activities to fit every family budget. Making the most of a short summer season, this city knows how to party!

Assiniboine Park
Open from 9:00 a.m. until dusk daily, Winnipeg's Assiniboine Park has a 40-hectare zoo, an English garden and plenty of room to roam.

Did you know? A.A. Milne's world-famous Winnie the Pooh was named after Winnipeg.

Grant's Old Mill
Grant's Old Mill is a reconstructed 1829 water mill, where youngsters can watch the process of grinding grain. Admission by donation. For more information, call 204-986-5613.

Kildonan Park
Home to some of Canada's largest and oldest trees, Kildonan Park has plenty of picnic tables and barbecue pits to round out a day in the outdoors. Public dock fishing is allowed, so pack up the fishing poles if you have them. For more information, call 204-966-7623.

Manitoba Children's Museum
Interactive exhibits are the focus for play and for learning at the Manitoba Children's Museum. Computer technology and a fully functional television studio transform this museum into a venue that children will love. Tickets are a nominal $6.25 for adults and $6.75 for kids. Of special interest this summer are Candy Kingdom, an interactive special exhibit about all things candy (until September 4), and Japanese Kites: A Tradition for All Ages, on from August 7 to October 20. For more information, call 204-956-5437.
