Clockwork-collage jewelry

By Jean Scobie

Help your kids to make unique jewelry they can show off to their friends.

You need:
• Watch movements, dials and cogs.
Take apart old watches purchased at a rummage sale or buy packaged watch parts at a craft store.
• Beads, rhinestones, buttons and/or chains
• Friendly Plastic (available at craft stores)
• Jewelry findings
• Glue gun or super tacky craft glue
• Tweezers

To make:
Using photos as a guide, assemble watch parts and other elements you want to combine in the collage. Glue the elements to each other or use Friendly Plastic as a base, as follows: with scissors, cut the Friendly Plastic into desired shape. Submerge in hot water for approx 30 seconds until soft and pliable (refer to package directions). Remove and mould into desired shape. Press larger elements into the Friendly Plastic so they are partially embedded in it. Glue on smaller parts and jewelry findings.
