- Preparation time: 15-20 minutes if you don't shell your own walnuts
- Cook time : 40 minutes
- Total time : PT40M
My mother made this when I was growing up. It was my favourite dessert. Now I make it with walnuts from my own tree, and finally I understand the expression "Get cracking"! Mum's comment at the end of the recipe: "Simply marvellous!!!"
Preparation
Rub flour and butter to crumbs and pack tighly in buttered 10x10 pan. Bake in quick oven (400 degrees) until lightly coloured (about 12-15 minutes.) Beat the 2 eggs well, and mix in remaining ingredients; pour over first mixture. Bake in moderate oven (350 degrees) 40 minutes. If desired, ice when cold with plain butter white icing. Leave for 6 hours at least before cutting into small squares.
