Bannock made easy.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups all purpose flour 4 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 tbsp baking powder 4 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 cups water 2 cups water
  • 2 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil 1/4 cup vegetable oil

Preparation

Mix dry ingredients. Feel free to modify sugar levels, or substitute brown sugar or other sweet ingredients, such as blue berries. Oil is not required if you're watching your fat intake.

Add water until mixture is sticky. Goop onto a baking pan and spread. You can knead the bread prior to placing on pan, but I don't like to get my fingers too sticky.

Poke holes with a fork and score in middle. Bake till crust is brown and tooth pick comes out clean. Serve.

Traditional condiments include lard, butter, jam, or honey.
