Basil Beer Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup 1cupchopped or torn fresh basil
  • 1 12 oz bottle 112 oz bottlebeer
  • 3/4 cup 3/4cupgrated Parmesan
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2tspblack pepper
  • 1-1/2 tsp 1-1/2tspkosher salt
  • 1-1/4 oz 1-1/4ozactive dry yeast
  • 3-1/4 cups 3-1/4cupsall purpose flour

Preparation

Heat oven to 400F. Oil a baking sheet (olive oil). In the bowl of a standing mixer on low or in a large bowl using a spoon combine the flour, yeast, salt, pepper and parmesan. Add the beer and mix just until the dough comes together. Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Sprinkle the basil and knead gently until incorporated. Shape the dough into a round loaf and transfer to the prepared sheet. Bake until the loaf is lightly browned and a toothpick inserted in the centre comes clean, 40-45 minutes. Turn the loaf onto a wire rack. Let cool at least 10 minutes before slicing.
