Big Batch Chocolate Chip Cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups butter 2 cups butter
  • 1-1/2 cups brown sugar 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups white sugar 1-1/2 cups white sugar
  • 6 eggs 6 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla 2 tsp vanilla
  • 7 cups flour 7 cups flour
  • 2 tsp salt 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp baking powder 2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp baking soda
  • 4 tbsp hot water 4 tbsp hot water
  • 1 lb chopped nuts 1 lb chopped nuts
  • 2 lbs chocolate chips 2 lbs chocolate chips

Preparation

Beat butter and both sugars with electric mixer until thoroughly creamed. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy.

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add butter mixture to dry ingredients and stir with wooden spoon until completely mixed.

Dissolve baking soda in hot water and stir into dough.

Note: At this point the dough can be divided in half and different combinations of chocolate and nuts can be used. For example, try chocolate chips & walnuts, butterscotch chips & pecans.

Stir chips and nuts into dough with a wooden spoon.

Drop onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, flatten slightly and bake at 350F for 15-17 minutes.
