  • 2 cups 2cupsbutter
  • 1-1/2 cups 1-1/2cupsbrown sugar
  • 1-1/2 cups 1-1/2cupswhite sugar
  • 6 6eggseggs
  • 2 tsp 2tspvanilla
  • 7 cups 7cupsflour
  • 2 tsp 2tspsalt
  • 2 tsp 2tspbaking powder
  • 2 tsp 2tspbaking soda
  • 4 tbsp 4tbsphot water
  • 1 lb 1lbchopped nutnuts
  • 2 lbs 2lbschocolate chips

Beat butter and both sugars with electric mixer until thoroughly creamed. Add eggs and vanilla and beat until fluffy.

Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Add butter mixture to dry ingredients and stir with wooden spoon until completely mixed.

Dissolve baking soda in hot water and stir into dough.

Note: At this point the dough can be divided in half and different combinations of chocolate and nuts can be used. For example, try chocolate chips & walnuts, butterscotch chips & pecans.

Stir chips and nuts into dough with a wooden spoon.

Drop onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet, flatten slightly and bake at 350F for 15-17 minutes.
