Ingredients

  • 16 slices 16slicesbread
  • 1/2 lb. 1/2lb.grated Cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 lb. 3/4lb.grated old cheese
  • 4 4eggeggs
  • 1 quart 1quartmilk
  • 1/2 tsp. 1/2tsp.seasoning salt
  • 1/2 tsp 1/2tspWorcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 tsp. 1/4tsp.pepper
  • 1 clove 1clovegarlic, grated

Preparation

Cut 16 slices of bread(butter lightly)into 1"squares Grate 1/2 lb.mild cheddar , & 3/4 lb. nippy(old) cheese Beat 4 eggs,1 quart milk,1/2 tsp. seasoned salt, 1/2 tsp. worchester sauce, pepper and garlic to taste Put layer of bread on bottom of 9x13 greased pan. Add layer of mixed cheese. Continue alternating layers of bread and cheese finishing with a bread layer. Beat eggs,add milk & add seasonings. Pour over pan place in frig overnight. Take out of frig one hour before baking. Preheat oven to 400 degrees and bake approximately 45 minutes. It should be browned and set in the centre could take up to 60 minutes. Serves 10-12 people and recipe can be halved.
