Chocolate Gingerbread
Ingredients
- 2 cups light brown sugar 2 2cups cupslight brown sugar
- 1 Tbsp cinnamon 1 1Tbsp Tbspcinnamon
- 1 Tbsp ginger 1 1Tbsp Tbspginger
- 1/2 Tsp allspice 1/2 1/2Tsp Tspallspice
- 1/2 Tsp salt 1/2 1/2Tsp Tspsalt
- 1/4 Tsp ground cloves 1/4 1/4Tsp Tspground cloves
- 1/2 Cup cocoa 1/2 1/2Cup Cupcocoa
- 1 Tsp baking soda 1 1Tsp Tspbaking soda
- 1/2 Cup boiling water 1/2 1/2Cup Cupboiling water
- 1 Cup unsalted butter 1 1Cup Cupunsalted butter
- 1/2 Cup molasses 1/2 1/2Cup Cupmolasses
- 4-1/2 cups all purpose flour 4-1/2 4-1/2cups cupsall purpose flour
Preparation
1. Measure sugar, spices, cocoa, soda into a very large bowl. Add water and stir until sugar is dissolved. 2. Stir in butter until melted. 3. Stir in molasses. 4. Gradually stir in 3 1/2 cups flour. Then knead in remaining flour until firm enough to roll. Dough can stay in the fridge for weeks. 5. Roll & cut into shapes. 6. Bake 10 to 15 min at 300 degrees on ungreased sheet until firm to the touch. 7. Leave on sheet 5 to 10 minutes.
