The basic recipe came from the 1987 Rotary Club Polio Plus Fundraiser Recipe Book. I made it many time on our boat and at home many time. Many of our friends use it also. I have updated over the years. Its the best dam bbq oven rib recipe there is. So I told. Valerie

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs pork side ribs 3 lbs pork side ribs or spareribs
  • 1 lemon , sliced1 lemon, sliced
  • 1 onion , sliced1 onion, sliced
  • 10 oz can tomato soup 10 oz can tomato soup
  • 1/2 can water 1/2 can water
  • 1/2 can white vinegar 1/2 can white vinegar
  • 2 tsp dry mustard 2 tsp dry mustard
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper , to taste1/4 tsp cayenne pepper, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes , to taste1/2 tsp red pepper flakes, to taste
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup brown sugar

Preparation

Cut spareribs into serving-size pieces. Place in roasting pan. Top each sparerib with a slice of lemon and onion, salt and pepper. Bake in 450 F oven for 1/2 hour. Combine remaining ingredients in a bowl. Bake ribs in 450 F oven for 1/2 hour. Take ribs out of oven after a half hour. Pour out fat if required. Lower oven temperature to 375 F. Pour tomotoe soup ingredients over ribs and cover with tin foil cook for 3/4 to 1 hour. Basting often. Re-move foil cook for 1/2 hour till sauce is thick. Service with baked potatoe and veggies. A great quick and easy rib recipe.
