Every Boy's Got One
(HarperColllins Canada, 2005)
By Meg Cabot
What says summer reading like a storyline that takes you to Italy for a wedding? The bride and groom are eloping and they're taking their best friends to stand in as their witnesses.
Opposites attract in this romantic read with best man Cal Langdon, an embittered and cynical journalist and the optimistic, unaffected cartoonist and maid-of-honour, Jane Harris. Although they're intent on hating each other, their mutual attraction proves difficult to ignore.
In Jane's travel journal, she reveals a humourous, neurotic nature but she's not overly analytical in the self-indulgent, Bridget Jones way. Her sense of humour and refreshing honesty make her instantly endearing. Cal's PDA notes show a stern and hardened man but he softens when he sees himself through someone else's eyes.
As for the provocative title, you may be wondering what it is that "Every Boy's Got?" A heart, of course.
