6. Revive a lost culinary art
In today's world of convenience and ease-of-purchase, it's both instructional and delicious to revive some lost kitchen arts. Take an evening to make and eat real ice cream, or bake a loaf of bread with your kids. It can provide a wonderful opportunity to share the day's events as well as the next day's snack. 8. Have a low-tech day
Take a breather from today's fast-paced computer world and gaming. Dig out the old board favourites that are buried deep in the hall closet: Monopoly, Scrabble, and Yahtzee. Chances are good that your kids will enjoy a break from the computer as much as you will.
9. In and around the city
Check out the festivals that are going on in and around your city. Festivals celebrate almost everything and, while many have a cost component, they also offer freebies. Check out the flyer from your local parks and recreation department -- find out what's happening in local recreation centres that might appeal to you and your kids.
10. Cruise the internet for ideas
The Internet can be a wonderful source of inspiration for boredom busters. Simply type "kids activities" into a search engine and just watch the possibilities roll out. Here are a few starter sites:
