Life is a cabaret
Back in the day before Pop Idol, there was nothing wrong with parading in front of the bedroom mirror, singing into a hairbrush. Kids everywhere love the chance to express themselves, so join in the fun and put on a show to remember. It can be as simple as singing along to the tunes of the moment, or as complicated as making your own "movie". Making a puppet theatre can be a great success with younger kids. The key is zero inhibitions and maximum fun.
Get creative
Nothing pleases kids more than making something themselves. The possibilities are endless: a family bake-fest, a craft project, inventing a board game or giving them a camera to document their world. If you're stumped for ideas, use the Internet or library to help get you started. Also, be sure to check out our kids' craft section for lots of inexpensive project ideas for all ages.
Sensational sleepover
An oldie but a goldie, the sleepover is always a hit with kids of all ages.
Help them really make it a night to remember (apart from being sleepless!) by planning lots of goodies and games. (Click here for 5 easy slumber party crafts.)
Don't delay -- do it today
We're all guilty; postponing activities with our kids because our everyday lives are so busy. So here's your chance to make up for all those broken promises; play that game of hockey, finish that scrap book project, makeover the kids' messy rooms -- or whatever else you never find the time for. The important thing is doing an activity you both enjoy, purely because it's something you're doing together.
See it's easy -- with a little planning this year's spring break can be action-packed without breaking the bank!
