Could you go makeup free for an entire day? That's something beauty writer Alexis Wolfer pondered when she started the Makeup Free Mondays initiative. At her online magazine The Beauty Bean (which offers a free e-newsletter), she goes beyond the latest in lipstick. The blog's underlying goal is to promote better body images, shaking the obsession of weight loss and the notion of dreading "the number" on scale. I totally admire her courage, though am secretly encouraged to try and do it myself. Some spots in Canada will be celebrating the Civic Holiday today, so there's a good chance some of you are lying on a cottage deck or sipping margaritas and possibly wearing *less* makeup today, but are you really makeup-free? So let's give it a go: can you try going makeup free at work, or during a full day out? Some food for thought:
- Imagine the time you'd save getting ready: what you'd net in beauty sleep would maybe be enough to permanently vanquish your under-eye circle.
- You're giving your skin a day to breathe.
- A few pennies saved, in the grand scheme of things, since you're using less makeup.
- You're challenging yourself to something that scares you.
