My top 3 beauty resolutions for 2014

Ushering in a New Year always helps me reflect on the past and look forward and plan for the future. I guess you could say I'm on a bit of a self improvement kick, especially in the beauty department. Of course I have other things on my "be better and do more list" for 2014, like finally get my freaking drivers license, run a marathon and be a more positive easy going person. Hmmm, that last one will be the toughie. As for my beauty minded resolutions? Here are my top three, all easy ideas that will help make me (and you) even more beautiful in 2014.

CLEAN MY MAKEUP BAG AND BRUSH, REGULARLY Hooray for a clean start to 2014! I spent New Year's day cleaning out my bathroom drawers and cupboards, a mind numbing task that's fitting for someone nursing a hangover. I purged a bunch of products, cosmetics and organizing the ones I decided to keep. Along with organizing I cleaned, 107 makeup brushes, serval compacts, tossed and cleaned sponges, sharpened eye and lip pencils and even wiped down all my lipstick heads. I'm aiming to edit my makeup bag monthly and clean my brushes that are in heavy rotation every two weeks. Tip: I like cleaning my brushes in the shower, I use my shampoo and then let them dry on the windowsill.

 BE NICER TO MY HAIR

In 2014, I promise to do a bi-weekly hair mask, use less heat tools (such as blowdryers, straighteners and curling irons) and get a trim or hair cut every three months. Make that bi-weekly to get my fringe trimmed. The latter will be essential when I finally do decide to get tested for my drivers license.

BOOK MORE MANIS, PEDIS, FACIALS, MASSAGES AND BRAZILIANS

I may have to get a second job to accomplish this resolution but it will happen, it has to! It's important for appearance sake (well, maybe not the brazilian), but it's just as important for my mental wellbeing. Like most of you, my free time is in high demand, it's usually allotted to doing errands, family stuff, visiting with friends and working out. It may sound selfish, but I want more "me time" and carving that time out at a salon or spa sounds like the perfect place for me.
