When the new Pantone colour of the year, Marsala 18-1438, was announced, it seemed less exciting than colours of years past (Radiant Orchid in 2014 or Emerald in 2013). Yet, on closer inspection, this hue is actually the most wearable when it comes to makeup. It's an "earthy wine red," according to the Pantone Colour Institute's Leatrice Eiseman, and is flattering on the eyes, cheeks and lips. For Sephora's collection with the Colour Institute, the brand played on light and dark variations of the hue, mixing mattes, pearls, metallics and shimmers for an extremely varied collection that will remain wearable long after the hype of "Colour of the Year" has passed. If we could only pick two products, we'd go for the liquid liner (especially for green and blue eyes) and the cheek trio (for a romantic flush throughout the cold winter months). Prices range from $23 to $49, and the collection will be available in Sephora stores and at sephora.ca at the end of December.
