To offset the vintage vibe of DVF’s spring '16 collection, Essie nail artist Michelle Saunders layered Good to Go top coat over a sleek and classic Essie polish, Au Natural.

Adam Selman

"Adam Selman’s collection was inspired by a long-forgotten nudist colony in Hawaii, and features bold prints, bright colours and frills to evoke a tropical feel. We wanted to balance the feminity of the clothes with a nail look that gave the girls more of a tomboy edge. The nails were ironically painted with nails: we used the head of a construction nail dipped in Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Dark Huemoor to paint haphazardly placed circles on clear nails. The look feels as if the girls painted it on themselves with a marker, ” says Madeline Poole, Sally Hansen global colour ambassador.

Ji Oh

New designer Ji Oh collection was inspired by street style. Toronto's Rita Remark created a hip, sheer peach-pink base colour that wears like “lip gloss on the nails.” She added vertical stripes, like pin stripes, to each nail for a graphic touch.

Libertine

Four distinct nail art looks were scattered on each model’s nails for an overall vibe of organized chaos. We love the use of dual-toned colour-blocking featuring clean lines and contrasting colours.

Paul Andrew

Paul Andrew's vibrant colour palette and rich textures gave Essie nail artist Julie Kandalec the idea to keep the manicure streamlined with a stripe of metallic down the centre using Essie's No Place Like Chrome.

Lucian Matis

Inspired by a French manicure, Rita Remark transformed the classic white trim into a more dramatic graphic version. The simple—yet bold—manicure worked beautifully with Matis' prints, beading and embroidery.

Mikhael Kale

Mikhael Kale’s floral inspired show had a whole lot of things going on, so nail artist Rita Remark wanted to focus on texture rather than colour with a dipped in gel effect using Essie's Adore A Ball and Matte About You.

Rebecca Minkoff

The fashion designer and Essie Global Color Designer, sourced three nail looks created by Michelle Saunders. Our favourite design was “lucite sunset,” inspired by the chunky lucite heels found throughout the collection.

The Blondes

The collection was inspired by various elements of Egyptology, so the CND Design Lab team incorporated romantic layers of texture on each nail style for a delicate, refined glamour.

Wes Gordon

Canadian native, but New York City dweller, Wes Gordon had a edgy dark theme for his spring collection. Toronto based Rita Remark created a gothic ombre nail look that perfectly captured the enviable style of ’90s “good girl gone bad.” The nail design juxtaposes light and dark with wet and dry.
