We Tried It: Fillerina Replenishing Treatment

We tried this hotly anticipated Swiss at-home treatment that’s rumoured to replace the need for fillers.

I’ll admit that I’ve been blessed with a young face—or, rather, I’ve been blessed with enough freckles to distract from my wrinkles. (Let’s just say that in my mid-thirties, I was still getting ID’d when buying booze.) But I’m barreling toward my late-30s, and my face is along for the ride: My brow is a little more furrowed, my smile lines are a little deeper and if crow’s feet needed shoes, mine would probably be a size 6. (Oh, and these days, I’m always called “ma’am” and never ID’d when buying a bottle of wine.)

Needless to say, I leapt at the opportunity to try the Fillerina Replenishing Treatment and return that plump youthful wrinkle-free look to my face without the needles or the financial splurge of traditional cosmetic fillers.

Smooth skin, striking cheekbones and plumped-up lips, here I come!

My pre-treatment face (the light in my ladies’ room really doesn’t show my wrinkles in all their glory).

The Process

A lover of nightly skincare rituals, I took to this treatment like a moth to a flame. You can do it either in the morning or at night, but I am not a lover of morning anythings, so night was a natural fit.

The process looks daunting with two glass containers and two tiny syringe-type applicators, but it’s actually easy peasy. Simply drink a big glass of water, draw the clear gel into the applicator and then pipe it along your wrinkle lines and anything else you want plumped up, like the lips and cheekbones. It’s like piping icing on a cake. Lie down for 10 minutes and let the gel—which is a powerful mix of hyaluronic acids mixed with active ingredients to restore the skin—sink in. Then, simply use your fingertips to pat whatever gel is not absorbed and finish with a layer of the cream (which has the most subtle and lovely scent). Finito!

Trial Takeaways and User Notes

Even though the instructions said you can apply this in the morning or at night, I found that the applications left more of a residue on my face than I would want to leave the house with, so I’d advise an evening treatment. That being said, it’s easier to miss evening routines on nights when you’re out late or uber tired. I missed my evening treatment twice, but just did it first thing the next morning—I don’t think it affected the process. You can continue your regular nightly beauty routine after applying the Fillerina, but I didn’t feel the need to with the gel and cream layers. Lastly, be patient with the applicators. The gel is thick and the syringe draws it up very slowly. Duly so when it comes to the cream.

My post-treatment face looks very similar to my pre-treatment face, but I’m convinced I have fewer fine lines and fuller lips!

Afterthoughts

The biggest test was buying that celebratory bottle of wine on Day 15. I approached the cash, hoping to be asked for identification…but I sadly wasn’t. And to add insult to injury? My friend, who was in line ahead of me, was.

In all seriousness, though, I was pleased with the results. It’s hard to recognize a gradual change in yourself, but my skin feels great, my lips feel slightly fuller, and in certain lights I can convince myself that my wrinkles are less visible.

The treatment only takes 14 days—I read advice online that extending it or doubling up doesn’t yield better results, but I wouldn’t hesitate to repeat this treatment again in six months to a year, and I loved the texture, smell and feel of the cream so much that I might just make it one of my beauty staples.

And if I ever do discover the elixir that gets me ID’d, I promise, you guys will be the first to know.
