1. Start with clean, matte skin: moisturizers or primers with "mattifying" on the label are a good start. Makeup artist Jukka suggests using a combination of foundation and concealer, finished with a light dusting of translucent powder. Defined eyebrows are essential for this look, so fill in sparse patches and rest of brow with a brow pencil or brow powder.

2. Keep the eyes subtle with a light wash of creamy, iridescent white eye shadow and a few coats of black mascara.

3. "A hint of fresh colour on the cheeks gives this look a fresh and flirty feel," says Jukka. Choose a bright pink or coral powder blush. To avoid '80s-esque contoured cheeks, Jukka suggests using a brush to apply blush to the apples of the cheeks, then swooping toward the temples.

4. A lip primer is essential for maximum colour payoff and longevity, says Jukka. To prevent bleeding, apply lip liner in the shade closest to the lipstick. Then colour in with lipstick, using a lip brush to define the edges.
