Pop art nail polish

Wanting to dip into summer's vibrant varnishes, but wondering how to pull off these super-bright shades? "Keep your nails short," says Leeanne Colley, owner of Tips Nail Bar and Spa in Toronto. "Bright colours on longer nails tend to look tacky." As for shape? "A soft square is generally the most flattering," she says.

From top to bottom:
• Joe Fresh Nail Polish in Pineapple, 6 mL, $4.
• Revlon Scented Nail Enamel in Raspberry Rapture, 14.7 mL, $6.
• Essie Nail Lacquer in Meet Me at Sunset, 13.5 mL, $10.
• Borghese Rapido Fast Dry Nail Lacquer in Anemone, 11.8 mL, $13.
• Nicole by OPI Nail Polish in Make Mine Lime, 15 mL, $10.50.
• Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Calypso Blue, 14.7 mL, $10.
• Rimmel London Lasting Finish Pro Nail Polish in Violet Metal, 13.3 mL, $5.

Tip: To make colour pop, paint a layer of white polish underneath your chosen shade, says Leeanne Colley, owner of Tips Nail Bar and Spa.
