I am 32 years old and I've had acne for about 15 years. Lately the acne seems to have cleared but I now have scars. It's depressing. What can I do about them?

Acne and the scars that are left behind can be upsetting for some. It is important to treat your acne early as this will help diminish the amount of scarring. There are several types of treatments available for clearing up scars, including surgical and non-surgical treatments like topical creams (Tretinoin), skin fillers, injectables like Artecoll© or Restylane©, microdermabrasion, non ablative lasers, smooth beam laser or skin camouflage and cover-up if you don't like or can't use the other options. There are also surgical/laser procedures which can be used to rid or diminish your acne scars. Laser resurfacing is often combined with one or several other treatments for acne scars. This combination approach consistently gives better results when compared to other therapies. There are lots of options available that can help you with your acne scars, but it really depends on what kind of scars you have. Your best bet is to see a dermatologic surgeon, who can tell you what kind of scarring you have and recommend the most effective treatment.
