I am in my late 30s and I've noticed dark spots on my face, around the cheek areas. What causes this? Is there a cream that can restore my skin back to its natural colour?

Dark spots can be caused by many different conditions that cause an increase in the production of melanin. 1. Lentigos are like permanent freckles caused by an accumulation of sun damage. Most of the lentigos remain harmless but a small number can misbehave and become cancerous. 2. Seborrheic keratosis can also be seen on the face and are often dark. 3. Moles are frequently the cause of dark lesions. 4. The amount of darkness will in part be related to how dark your normal skin is. There are many other less common causes of dark patches. Before recommending a specific cream, it is important that you have the correct diagnosis made. A dermatologist will make the diagnosis after looking at your skin, so I cannot be confident that any answer I provide will apply to your particular situation. I would recommend that you see your doctor to make sure there are no issues and to receive further guidance. Thank you for your question.
