My daughter, who is bi-racial, is 5 years old. Over the last year-and-a-half she will break out once a month. The breakouts along her hairline I can understand, but it is the excessive blackheads on her nose and chin that disturb us. No doctor can seem to answer if this is normal or not, and how we should address this problem other than the mild soaps she uses to wash her face each day.
Acne has a hormonal component but, since it is along the hair line, you first need to be certain that the situation is not being aggravated by hair products.
Rinse out the shampoo very thoroughly. I also suggest perhaps a salicylic wash (ask your local pharmacist which brand they have available.)
Mild acne can occur in children and it does not usually raise concern unless there are signs of other hormonal changes such as hair gowth or premature development. See your doctor if you remain worried.
