Danielle Singer was still in school when she started Dolorous Jewellery, her line of everyday pieces. She draws inspiration from everywhere, including her recent honeymoon in Japan, and the concept of wabi-sabi (beauty through imperfection), which heavily influenced the Fall 2017 collection. What makes Dolorous Jewellery a proudly Canadian company? “My pieces are often an understated and accessible kind of elegant,” says Singer. “I think that quality really mirrors the Canadian sensibility—we’re laid-back and easygoing, but we know how to make an impact.”
