Freida Pinto shares her style inspiration
Her inspiration: Light and colour.
Freida Pinto has a healthy appreciate for colour, especially when it comes to her personal esthetic and her decor. The actor's vibrant style is inspired by her hometown of Mumbai, India, with its incredible markets, textiles, homes and foliage. "India definitely influences my use of colour and my understanding of it. I feel we have a unique talent when it comes to visualizing colour," she says.
Pinto indulges her love of saturated hues in her Mumbai and Los Angeles homes by incorporating bright over-the-top pieces; a massive painting of a neon cow and an avocado-green bench are her current favourites. "I could never live in a home without colour," she says. "It's something of a mood-lifter for me." Her most-loved combos are blue and red, green and gold, and yellow with just about anything. She finds inspiration in flower gardens and fabric stores, too. Bring the esthetic into your own abode by filling rooms with brilliant throw pillows and bouquets of blooms on tables and countertops.
"When I lived in London, my friends told me, 'It's too cold here; you cannot step out in that much colour,'" she says. "But I did." Now living in L.A., Pinto surprisingly sticks to a wardrobe that's primarily neutral. Her colour fix? She adds a bright lip in red, coral or pink and wears fragrances that remind her of certain hues: Lavender recalls soft blues, while green means an earthy or spicy scent pick.
