Principal dancer Sonia Rodriguez shows off sweet pastels

A principal dancer at The National Ballet of Canada and mother of two, Sonia Rodriguez flaunts her stage-worthy style with pastel pieces and feminine flourishes. "I have a classic style. For everyday, I like flow-y, comfortable clothing that I can move in," says Rodriguez. With that in mind, we hand-picked clothing that can take her from pirouettes to parties.

Let's get physical
Sportswear's current influence on the fashion industry is undeniable; this relationship is also impacting how athletic garments are designed. Performance-driven clothes have never looked so fashion-forward, while still functioning at optimal levels.

Details, details

A white shirtdress epitomizes timeless style, especially with all the elegant extras: a '50s cinched waist, sculpted pleated ruffles and two sharply dressed gentleman flanking it to offset femininity. Whether softly feminine, like this one, or clean and contemporary, a shirtdress is right in every woman's wardrobe.

Sheer genius

Transparent fabrics don't automatically translate into unwantedly sexy. When sheer elements are artfully—and strategically—placed, they can look airy, delicate and romantic.

Pretty pleats

Flattering, feminine and effortlessly chic, a demure accordion-pleated skirt is sure to mesmerize as it swishes down the street. Bonus: it easily transitions from day to night.

Pastel perfect

Quiet colours don't always speak softly. Tones of white and shades of pastel lend a lightness and a delicacy to structured silhouettes.
