Hudson's Bay Company has revealed the Team Canada Collection for the upcoming summer 2016 Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The Hudson’s Bay Company has officially revealed the Team Canada Collection that will outfit all the Canadian athletes competing in the upcoming Rio 2016 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Having been the official outfitter for the Canadian Olympic Team since 2005, the Hudson’s Bay Company provides every member of the country’s Olympic and Paralympic team with pants, jackets, leisurewear and accessories, all as part of their Rio 2016 uniform.
“As a Premier Partner of the Canadian Olympic Committee and the Canadian Paralympic Committee, Hudson’s Bay is deeply committed to supporting our athletes and bringing the passionate spirit of the Games to Canadians through our clothing,” says Liz Rodbell, President of Hudson’s Bay. “Wearing Canada’s colours unites us all and we are looking forward to cheering on Team Canada as they go for gold in Rio.”
The iconic retailer paired up with Canadian-born twin brothers Dean and Dan Caten of international fashion house Dsquared2 earlier this year to design the uniforms of the Opening Ceremonies. The look, which has just been unveiled, takes a formal spin on the athletic style by incorporating a jacket, shirt and pants using the classic red, white and black colour palette.
The rest of the clothing collection, exclusively designed by the Bay’s in-house design team, is comprised of Closing Ceremony and Podium outfits, along with athlete village wear. Inspired by the Canadian flag, the collection is centered on the maple leaf and captures the essence of the Canadian tradition in a modern style.
“The kit is unique, quintessentially Canadian and will be proudly worn by our athletes when they represent our great country on the world stage in Rio,” says Tricia Smith, President of the Canadian Olympic Committee.
The 2016 Team Canada Collection includes colour-blocked tees, word marked hoodies, nylon track jackets, accessories like hats and scarves and more. Replica wear for all of this will be available for purchase at all Hudson’s Bay stores across Canada starting May 4, and select pieces are available to shop online now at thebay.com.
