Top 10 fall fashion must-haves to add to your shopping list
1. Coloured trousers
Just about every shape and style in pants walked down the runway – from high-waisted, wide leg, tapered and cropped. The running theme for fall 2011 trousers is supersaturated hues in greens, reds, blues and yellows.
2. The poncho sweater
There's nothing hippie about these poncho-sweater hybrids. The flowing shape is comfy, yet chic enough to wear to the office when paired with a slim, sophisticated black pant.
3. The perfect suit
Long and lean was the silhouette du jour for the multitude of pantsuits that pranced down the runway. This fall, choose one in a rich cognac or warm camel hue.
4. Leather skirt
Last fall we coveted leather shirts but this year the new obsession is leather skirts. You can find them in every style from a simple A-line, a sexy pencil or a pleated piece.
5. Graphic stripes
It seems the fashion world can't get enough of stripes. This season we saw the familiar horizontal patterns as well as bolder, chunkier graphic ones too.
6. The new blouse
Move over crisp oxford shirt and girly bow blouses: The sleek pocket blouse is the new dress shirt in town.
7. Portfolio bag
Say so long to straps: Larger clutches and portfolio bags are the hottest handbags for fall.
8. High-heeled loafers
We all know that the loafer is a classic menswear staple. But once again we're borrowing something from the boys – and this time around, the loafer is feminized with a stacked heel, wedge or stiletto.
9. Dotty for polka-dots
Polka-dots were spotted up and down the runways. This ultrafeminine pattern works on everything from shirts, cardigans, skirts and dresses.
10. Python accessories
The ultimate print for shoes, handbags and jewelry is anything python related. Walk on the wild side and add texture to your look with a snakeskin watch.
