Not-so-mellow yellow

Yellow is one of the biggest colours of the fashion season. But if, like me, you're not sure you can pull off this vibrant hue, try incorporating it into your accessories. A great pair of sunny shoes or a splashy purse makes all the difference to your summer outfit.  - Alexandra Donaldson

Occeran crossbody bag, $55, aldoshoes.com.

Celebrate good times

Shiseido’s Eudermine launched in 1897, which is a lightweight skin softening lotion that’s considered by some as Japan’s first luxury skin care offering, and to this day it’s still a top seller worldwide. Over those 120 years the bottles been designed eight times with the most recent iteration taking shape in 1997 by artist Serge Lutens.

In celebration of Canada’s 150th and Shiseido’s 120th, the brand has teamed up with multidisciplinary Canadian artist Alexandra Mackenzie to create a limited edition box for Eudermine. The Toronto native and now Montreal dwelling artist pays homage to Shiseido’s vintage designs while offering her own 70s comic book meets psychedelic twist. Mackenzie’s artwork was hand sketched, inked with pen then coloured digitally. This limited edition box also signifies a promise from Shiseido Canada, its employees will team up with Tree Canada and plant 150 trees in three of our largest cities this September; Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. - JM

Live in linen

A sleeveless collared shirt is a must-have item for the spring and summer months. Not only will the breathable linen fabric keep you cool, this tunic is also incredibly versatile. You can wear it with shorts or a skirt and even add a belt to accessorize. - KD

H&M+ Sleeveless linen tunic, $60, hm.com.

Sports star

When the warmer weather rolls around my go-to footwear is either sneakers or strappy sandals. But this season, I'm hoping to incorporate the ease of the former, with the breathability of the latter. Enter: the sporty sandal. Don't be fooled—this pair of neoprene flat sandals will look just as good with your denim cutoffs as it will a pair of culottes- AD

Light Shadow Sandal, $68. freepeople.ca

Summer uniform

Nothing gives me summer vibes more than a boho-meets-nautical billowing embroidered tunic, and this top from online retailer Chic Wish delivers for just $49. - JM

Tunic, $49, chicwish.com.

Misty

The best way to cool down and give your skin some extra love is definitely a face mist. My pick is this super affordable and very calming pick from Caudalie. The best news? The ingredient list is only two lines long: grape water to desensitize and grape juice to moisturize and soften. - AD

null

Caudalie Grape Water, $14, sephora.ca.

Something's in the water

This month marks one of the most exciting launches for Vichy; a daily skin care booster that includes the highest concentration of its famous French thermal waters, 89 percent. This fragrance-free formula is easily absorbed and includes as few ingredients as possible—11 total—to insure it will work well with all other skin care routines. The gel-to-water like constancy is extremely hydrating without being heavy and it's designed to be the first step in your routine.  - JM

null

Vichy Minéral 89 Fortifying and Plumping Daily Booster, $40, vichy.ca.

Long, tall jumpsuit

I love the look of rompers, jumpsuits and playsuits, but at 5 feet, 11 inches, I often have trouble finding one that is long enough—and doesn't pull in all the wrong places. The solution? Shops that offer extended sizing. This tall-specific romper also includes a ring-pull zipper and culotte bottoms making it a great versatile purchase. - AD

null

Tall Jumpsuit with Ring Pull, $82, asos.com

Level up sunscreen

Forty dollars for sunscreen is a lot—but there's a reason why this pick is worth the money. This pick is a pure, mineral sunscreen which means no chemicals. And although mineral sunscreens have a bad rap for actually working effectively, this one boasts 22% organic zinc oxide so you know you're getting that SPF 30 you need to keep your face protected. And since sunscreen is the best way to save your skin from premature aging, we think it's well worth the price tag. - AD

null

Cyberderm Simply Zinc Sun Whip SPF 30, $40, thesunscreencompany.com.

Pretty pastels

For those who love rocking beautiful, pastel colours, this is the perfect clutch to complete your outfit. With its springy light blue colour and more than adequate size, it will fit all your necessities and still look great. - KD

null

Lexi Clutch, $50, mattandnat.com.

Multitasker

Sunny days are here again and that means adding sunscreen into your daily routine. I love this moisturizer from Caryl Baker. It feels so light on my skin and it doesn’t leave behind that awful, streaky tint on your skin. Also, it has a built in SPF of 50 along with much-needed hydration. Talk about full coverage. - KD

null

Day Light Brightening Cream, $46.50, carylbakervisage.com.

To the max

The easiest thing to throw on in the summer is a summer sundress—and a maxi should definitely be part of your wardrobe. This one has a slit for breathability, a cut-out for added interest and versatile stripes so you can wear it with pretty much any topper or accessory. - AD

null

Side Slit Maxi Dress, $80, ae.com.

Easy breezy

For when it gets hot and humid, everyone needs a go-to blouse that works just as well for brunch, the office and a night out. Pick a silhouette that skims away from the body to keep cool, but keep an eye out for detailing like ruching, patterns and lace to keep it interesting. - AD

Dot Smocked Top, $50, gapcanada.ca.
