Get Soap Opera Star Hair

Things that remind me of breezy summer afternoons as a child include: brightly-coloured popsicles, sourcing my soccer equipment for evening practices (there was always a matter of an deviant shin pad or sock) and TV show General Hospital. It's the only show my Mum adored from an early age, so much so that she became a nurse. picture-42 So there will always be something strangely soothing about the saxophone crooning over the final credits to signal the show's finish. And while I'm ashamed to admit how much I know about the show's plot (if you can go as far as to use the term), I certainly have no qualms about my life-long obsession of getting soap opera girl hair. Tons of height, volume and glossy curls that spill down shoulders and backs.

One of the current cast members, Kelly Monaco (above), who plays Sam McCall, swears by CHI styling products and tools. Since her hair is fried on a daily basis (they tape loooong days, every day) with hot styling tools, backcombing (that volume's coming from somewhere) and lots of product, she replies on CHI Silk Infusion (a beauty blogger fave) and CHI 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protectant Spray. Both prep hair from the abusive styling process.

Now I have two questions for you:

1. Do you protect your hair before you style it?

2. What's your guilty pleasure on TV?
