Staff Tested: Styling Putty

Finally, we have a little something for the dudes on this blog! Or for the ladies who shop for their fellas. Is he asking you to pick up something new (for hair, body, face etc.) but you end up flustered when you start scanning the men’s grooming aisle? If so, I don't blame you—it's a grey area for me too. It's hard to recommend anything you haven't tried for yourself.

It’s no surprise that around these parts (Canadian Living offices), men are a minority. However, our department has been blessed. Over the last few months a style intern of the male kind has been among us, so Katherine and I have been encouraging him to try whatever his heart desires from our beauty closet, and not because we are trying to put the moves on him. No, well maybe…but more because we’re selfish. We want to gain some perspective into men’s grooming products, and find out what’s legit and what are totally #fails.

This week we had Matthew test out one of the biggest product segments for men: hair styling potions and lotions. To be specific—Dippity Do’s Sport Pro-Styling Putty. Here’s his verdict.

“I don’t normally wear a lot of product in my hair, but when I do, I tend to avoid the stylings of the Jersey Shore boys. Dippity-Do’s new Sport Pro-Styling Putty was a perfect fit for my needs; it gave my hair texture and hold for the whole day (even withstanding hat-head!) without the stiff coated look most gels leave behind.”

-Matthew Biehl, style intern

The Dippity-do Sport Pro-Styling line is available for $5.99 each at drugstores and mass-market retailers.
