Make a little time for yourself by taking a mid-day me moment

From a meditation moment to an indulgent snack, it’s not always easy to take time for yourself but it’s definitely necessary.

With today’s busy schedule and never-ending to-do list it can be very hard to carve out little peaceful moments for ourselves. In fact, it’s near impossible. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn't try to find a way to take the time to relax, even if we can only afford a few minutes here and there to do so. So what's the best way to find a little time for yourself that you won’t feel guilty about taking? Make it a multi-task moment. Whether you need to take a little mental health break, or are looking for a quick meal to eat between responsibilities, there’s a way to be both productive and take a minute to rest. Here, we make the case for midday me moments.

1. Power up with a power bowl

When you’re burning the midnight oil it can be hard to remember to eat—nevermind, remembering to eat something that’s nutritious. Instead of opting for take-out or fast food, opt for a Healthy Choice Power Bowl. Packed full of protein and focusing on a range of international-inspired flavours (Korean Beef Bowl, anyone?) you’ll get the healthy dinner you deserve, without the prep time or hefty price tag. Not to mention, the products are packaged in serving bowls made from plant-based fiber rather than plastic.

2. Take 15 minutes to meditate

Sitting still in silence for fifteen minutes sounds impossible, but with the undeniable benefits of meditation you can definitely make the time for this focus-boosting, good-for-you habit. Whether you’re using a meditation app to help guide your practice, or you like to close your eyes and guide yourself, taking a little time to get your mind away from your to-do list is always going to be beneficial; not just to break up your day with a midday me moment, but also to let you get back to it refreshed and ready to go.

3. Indulge in some comfort food

Not every indulgence needs to be a grand (and time-consuming) affair, even when it comes to baking your favourite treat. Instead, opt for a single serving of your favourite Duncan Hines baked good with the perfect-for-1 serving size. Whether it’s brownies or cake, these single-serving favourites are ready in about a minute, are made with simple ingredients and (most-importantly) are super delicious. Which means you can have your cake, eat it too and get back to your to-do list in no time at all.

4. Refresh with a mini beauty routine

Indulging in a beauty routine is the ultimate luxury, especially when you’re strapped for time. But you can make this little pick-me-up quick and easy when needed. Keep a facial mist at your desk to refresh you periodically throughout the day. Or, even better, indulge in a mini facial massage by having facial oil handy. Simply warm some oil in your hands, and put it onto your face before using your fingers (or a jade roller) to massage the oil in. Bonus points if you focus on working from the centre of your face outwards to help promote lymphatic drainage. The result is a rosy glow, hydrated skin and a little midday moment to yourself.

5. Dip into snack mode

The perfect snack takes a bit of weekend or night-before prep, but it’s so worth it—and it’s easy when you have the right ingredients on hand. A great base for all your snacks? Hunt’s Heirloom Tomatoes. They’re vine-ripened, picked fresh and canned in smaller, limited batches so you know they’re tasty. Plus, you can incorporate them into tomato-based soups (perfect with crackers or a sandwich), dips (roasted red pepper and tomato with pita is a favourite) or in a fresh salsa (just add herbs and tortilla chips).
