How to create a stylish entrance for your home
Our home and style director Ann Marie Favot gives tips and tricks on how to revamp your front stoop.
Q: How can I create an inviting first impression for my home?
The exterior of your house is an extension of the interior, so introduce the space with a stylish front stoop. First, swap out the existing door or spruce it up with a fresh coat of paint: For a timeless look, opt for classic black or contemporary grey or navy; or, to really make a splash, go for a bright hue, like yellow, red or green. Whichever direction you choose, be sure the colour complements your home’s façade. Next, anchor the door with stylish sconces and add greenery and definition via potted plants. Last but not least, decorate with a doormat; hardware, such as a knocker or a doorknob; an address plaque; and a mailbox or mail slot.
