A bright-eyed holiday beauty look
What makes holiday beauty so much fun? The chance to break out of your comfort zone! This look flatters all ages and complexions.
PRE GAME
Real talk: Makeup alone will not get you looking your best. In order for makeup artistry to have its top effect, it’s crucial to care for the canvas: your skin. Healthy moisturized skin will help cosmetics stand the test of time—or at least a night of celebrating!
1. Preparation
Whether you have oily, dry or somewhere-in-between skin, apply an oil to toned cleansed skin. Thick creams can create a waxy residue that may cause foundation to pill or look uneven, while an oil protects the lipid layer and keeps skin moisturized and dewy.
2. Primer
Don’t neglect this step. Primers create a smooth canvas for makeup, but they don’t just smooth skin, blur pores and keep makeup in place; they also brighten and add a soft matte finish. Some can even give your skin a lit-from-within glow.
3. Foundation
Foundation formulas can be found in all forms, including cushion compacts, sticks and sprays. However, go with a good liquid foundation for a special occasion for fuller coverage. Apply a quarter-size amount on the back of your hand, then dip a damp sponge into it. Start by perfecting the middle of your face (that’s where most of the product should go to cover up redness), blending outward.
4. Concealer
To prevent eyeshadow from falling off the lids and settling in creases, first make sure you prime your eyelids with a dab of creamy concealer. Use a drier (thick stick) concealer on blemishes and dark spots so it will adhere better.
5. Powder
If your skin is on the oily side, powder is essential. Dust your T-zone with translucent powder to absorb oil, keeping the rest of your visage powder-free for a fresh-faced glow.

The best part of a classic dark liner? It’s great on everyone, defining all eye shapes and colours. Another can’t-go-wrong look? Champagne shadow teamed with copper accents. Follow these four steps for party-worthy eye makeup.

1. Sweep on base colour
A shimmering beige or champagne cream shadow helps brighten eyes with its light-
catching flecks.
2. Apply accent shade
Most cream eyeshadows will act as a primer, helping powder shadow stay put. Brush it across the eyelid from the outer corner into the crease. For a smokier look, wrap it around the outer bottom lash line.
3. Swipe on eyeliner
For an even look, create small dashes with the
eyeliner from the inner to outer corner of your upper lash line, making it thicker as you go. Connect them in one swoop.
4. Add mascara
Wipe off the wand with a tissue or the top of the mascara tube, then wiggle it at the root of lashes first to deposit extra colour. This technique helps plump up fine hairs and give
maximum length.

FINISHING TOUCHES
You’re in the final stretch! Add a radiant rosiness to your complexion by gently patting and blending highlighter and blush into your skin with a fingertip for a soft-focus glow. A swipe of creamy lipstick is the last step before you head out.

1. Highlighter
Using a creamy highlighter, target the high points of your face: across the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose and on the cupid’s bow of your lips.
2. Blush
Blend a rosy shade into the apples of your cheeks while you’re smiling. If you have dry skin, use a cream formula; oily skin types should stick to a powder.
3. Lipstick
Put it on straight from the tube (instead of with a brush) to deposit the most colour.
