Schnapps

Also Schnaps. From the German, meaning "dram of liquor", a strong, colorless alcohol distilled from potatoes or grain, made in Germany, Scandinavia and the Netherlands and flavored in many ways, the two best known being peppermint and peach. This lip-smacking, tangy liquor derives its name from the Middle Low German snappen, meaning "to snap at."
