Baked macaroni is one of our Sunday dishes that we serve with stewed chicken or beef, rice, stewed red beans and potato salad. This will stick to your bones and you won't be hungry too quickly thereafter. Baked macaroni is definitely a tasty comfort food that all ages will love. Best served hot and leftovers are just as good. For those who are lactose intolerant, omit the can of evaporated milk and substitute with 1/2 cup of chicken broth. You must also increase the amount of breadcrumbs by 1/4 cup. Don't use too much broth as the mixture will not bind together. Any Canadian marbled cheese and parmesan cheese can be used.

I love making simple recipes look extra special. This recipe looks like you spent a lot of work on it and it shows in the wonderful presentation....but it is simple and anyone can do it......I also love that you can put everything together and cook it without spending the whole night in the kitchen. I like to serve this with a wonderful mixed green salad...that is the wonderful part of this dish...it has several components of an entree all in once dish so you can serve it with a nice salad and enjoy! It also allows you to have some room for a special dessert.

This dish can be served with or without the basic Tomato Sauce. If one chooses to have it with tomatoe sauce it is best to make the sauce first so that as the sauce cooks and becomes flavourful the rest of the recipe can be prepared. Sauce can be made in advanced to save time and so flavours have a chance to blend, making the sauce tastier. I like to make it a day in advance or even have it ready in the freezer for other pasta dishes.
