And just like that, another Met Gala has come and gone. Here are our favourite looks.
This year's exhibition, called "Superfine: Tailoring Black Style," is centered around Black fashion over 300 years through the lens of dandyism.
Dandyism, to put it simply, is a man who is dressed sharply and well-groomed. The concept—marked by pristine suits, shiny shoes, and crisp hats—evolved in the post-emancipation era when former slaves took on dandyism as a means of assimilation. Dandyism truly took off during the Harlem Renaissance with icons like Langston Hughes.
"The exhibition interprets the concept of dandyism as both an aesthetic and a strategy that allowed for new social and political possibilities," reads The Met's exhibition overview.
