How to: Peel your banana like a monkey

Put this one in the "weird ways to peel fruit" column (along with my post on using a spoon to peel a kiwi). There is a possibility you may have been peeling your banana upside down for your entire life. Next time, try peeling from the bottom, not from the stem end (see picture above). Apparently this is how monkeys do it (and they are the experts after all) and tends to leave less stingy bits on the banana. Just insert you finger about 1 cm from the bottom to avoid the nasty black bit. Also, did you know that a banana can be split lengthwise into 3 segments? Once you have peeled your banana, gently push on the top of the banana and it will separate into 3 long pieces (see picture below). Try this trick next time you are sharing a banana with two other people!
