Method
Preheat oven to 350°F; grease six 11/2-cup ramekins (or gratin dishes). Place ramekins on baking sheet.
In bowl, gently stir together pears, lemon juice, maple syrup, cornstarch, ginger and cardamom. Divide evenly among prepared ramekins.
In separate bowl, whisk together flour, brown sugar, pecans, baking powder, cinnamon and salt. Stir in melted butter until wet and crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over pear mixture in ramekins.
Bake until tops of crumbles are golden and edges are bubbling, 35 to 40 minutes. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving. Drizzle with whipping cream, if using.
