Did you know pumpkins can easily replace squashes in most recipes? Here are four easy ways to cook them.
Try one of these foolproof tips for preparing our favourite fall veg:

Cut the pumpkin in half and scoop out the seeds. Place cut side down in a buttered dish and bake at 375°F (190°C) for one hour, or until tender.
How to cook pumpkin the the microwave
Cut the pumpkin in half, scoop out the seeds and prick the skin with a fork. Place cut side down in a microwave dish, cover with perforated plastic wrap and cook on high for 10 to 15 minutes, or until tender.
How to steam or boil a pumpkin
Cut into two inch (5cm) pieces, remove the seeds and steam or boil for 15-20 minutes.
How to make pumpkin puree
If the cooked pumpkin contains too much water, drain for 10 minutes in a colander. Puree in a blender or food processor. Cover and refrigerate for up to 5 days or freeze in airtight containers for up to 1 year.
Plain canned pumpkin can be used in recipes instead of homemade puree.
Don't forget to roast your pumpkin seeds
Rinse and dry the seeds. Mix with a little oil and salt. Bake at 350°F (180°C) for 10 to 15 minutes, until crisp.
