Preheat barbecue to medium-low heat (about 325°F); grease grill. On work surface, remove membrane from ribs using tip of knife to loosen it first, then by peeling it off with your hands (hold the membrane with paper towel if it’s too slippery to grasp). Separate ribs by slicing between each bone. Sprinkle ribs with garlic powder. Wrap ribs in two layers of foil and seal tightly.
Place ribs on grill, close lid and cook, turning halfway through grilling time, for 3 hours. Care fully remove ribs from foil; set aside on baking sheet. Reserve 1/4 cup of the cooking liquid from foil. Do not turn off barbecue.
In small saucepan over medium heat, combine reserved cooking liquid, brown sugar, soy sauce, honey, molasses and garlic. Bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer for 2 minutes.
Brush ribs with some of the sauce and place them on the grill. Close lid and cook over low heat, brushing with sauce every 10 minutes and turning ribs a few times, until meat is tender, about 1 hour.
