Flank Steak with Shallots & Red Wine

A fuss-free recipe that is the perfect showcase for the delicate, delicious flavour of shallots.

Method

Season steak with salt and pepper. In large skillet, heat 1 tbsp oil over medium-high heat. Add steak; cook until medium-rare, turning halfway through cooking time, about 8 to 10 minutes or until desired doneness. Transfer steak to cutting board and tent with foil. Let rest for 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, in small skillet, melt butter with remaining oil over medium heat. Add shallots and cook, stirring often, until tender and golden, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Add wine and continue cooking until liquid is reduced by half, about 5 minutes.

Slice steak and divide among plates; top with shallots and sprinkle with parsley. Serve with french fries and microgreens, if desired.
