One of the main reasons to shop at IKEA® is undoubtedly the fact that you can munch on delicious Swedish meatballs before or after your shopping trip.  Now you can also make them at home, IKEA® has revealed their secret to their famous IKEA® Swedish meatballs.

Method

Preheat oven to 350°F. In large bowl, combine beef and pork with fingers, add onions, garlic, bread crumbs, egg and milk, until well combined. Season with salt and pepper. Using hands, shape mixture into balls, about 1 tbsp at a time. Let rest in refrigerator for a least 2 hours.

In a frying pan over medium heat, pour a little oil and then fry the meatballs until they are a nice golden colour. When meatballs are well browned, place them in an ovenproof dish and continue cooking for 30 minutes at 350°F.

Meanwhile, for the sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan, add the flour and stir for 2 minutes. Add the vegetable and beef broths while continuing to stir. Then add the cream, soy sauce and Dijon mustard and turn up the heat to thicken the sauce.


Serve with your favourite side of potatoes (mashed, fried or in a chip).
