This recipe is a quick and easy way to the warm comfort of traditional baked ziti without turning on your oven. Ground turkey or chicken can easily be used in place of beef. If you don't have Italian seasoning on hand, a mixture of dried rosemary, oregano and thyme will do the trick. Serve topped with chopped fresh parsley.

  • Portion size 8 servings

In large nonstick skillet, heat 1 tsp oil of the over medium-high heat; brown beef, breaking up with wooden spoon, 5 to 7 minutes. Drain in colander and set aside.

Add remaining oil, onion, garlic, hot pepper flakes (if using), Italian seasoning and pepper to skillet; cook, stirring occasionally, until onion is softened, 4 to 5 minutes.

Return beef to skillet along with strained tomatoes. Stir in cheese until melted, about 1 minute.

Meanwhile, in large pot of lightly salted boiling water, cook pasta according to package directions; drain and return to pot. Add beef mixture and toss to coat.
